Spring Term 1st half 2012

Next half term our topic is ……. ‘The Wild West’!

We fill be finding out about the first settlers in America and where they came from. We will also be finding out about and comparing the lifestyles, of the indigenous people of America, old style cowboys and ourselves.

We will be reading the stories of ‘Cowboy Ted and the Scary Night’ and a very different sing along version of ‘She’ll be Coming ‘round the Mountain’!

We will have lots of creative activities including a ‘Wild West’ role play area. We will have a dressing up day when the children may come dressed as a cowboy (or girl), when we will hold a cowboy camp out – (with baked beans of course)! We will also have a go at line dancing!

Please encourage the children to bring along any books, stories or information they might have about the ‘Wild West’ to Nursery for us to share.

A reminder that the first inset day of the new year is Friday 13th January 2012.
